This position is responsible for the enforcement of County Ordinances pertaining to junk, non-operable vehicles, debris, dilapidated structures, rubbish, trash, weeds, liquid waste, manufactured home placement and RV / work force camps or other ordinances as deemed necessary by the Director or Manager. Duties include, but are not limited to, investigation of complaints, issuance of citations, preparing documentation for legal proceedings, prosecution of cases, testifying in court as required, meeting with individuals in a one on one basis both in and away from the office setting. Employee must perform all duties with minimal supervision. Employee may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings and perform other duties as assigned. Employee will be subjected to working alone in remote areas with little or no assistance at times. Employees may be subjected to irate and unfriendly individuals and must be able to negotiate the situation and de-escalate the situation without assistance. Employee must be able to work with property owners and businesses to ensure compliance of regulations and ordinances. Maintain records of inspections, violations, and other enforcement actions. Provide education and information about ordinances and regulations to the public. Work with other county departments to ensure public safety and quality of life. Keep up to date on changes to ordinances and regulations. Attend training as needed to obtain certifications needed for the position. This may include a variety of qualifications such as: asbestos, code enforcement, radios, and lapel cameras. Provide Recommendations for changes to regulations and codes based on experience and observations. Provide recommendations to the commissioners by providing objection evidence for clean and lien. This will entail oral presentations in public recorded meetings. Some project manager experience will be necessary to compile data, cost estimates, photos, and factual objective evidence. Provide input to improve training, be a trainer and be a leader in developing training procedures and documents. This person will be required to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position and perform other duties as assigned.
